Faber is able to offer complete assistance in the design stages, in the prototyping and the polishing of the finished product using a network of selected suppliers who guarantee to provide innovative and high-quality products and services. Faber has the capacity to develop clients’ requests and offer the most suitable solution, according to quantity, quality and target price.
Technology – RTM: quality and technical know-how at reduced costs.
One of the main high-performance processing technologies for producing polymer composites is using a low-pressure resin injection molding, a system which allows for a notable reduction of the number of stages as well as production time, whilst improving the quality of both the structure and surface of the finished product, making this process more competitive compared to traditional technologies.
The process involves the injection of resin and a catalyst (blended) into a closed mold, which consists of two pieces (core and cavity), fitted with a preformed fiber. Once polymerized, the part is extracted and is ready for finishing and assembly. Faber uses metal or resin molds according to the surface and structural quality requirements, budget as well as the type of shape that the client requires for their product.
STANDARD RTM
This process injects the resin into the molds under pressure. It is the method which is most commonly used in the production of standard parts. It allows for the manufacturing of products with a uniform or irregular thickness and the encasing of metal or polyurethane-based inserts. It is possible to make products in a wide range of dimensions, using different types of resin (polyester, vinylester, epoxy, etc.), combined with pigments and fillers (such as alumina trihydrate and calcium carbonate) and various sorts of reinforcements (glass, carbon or aramid fibers, or even a combination of these) according to the specific requirements of the project.
VACUUM RTM OR RTM LIGHT
This process uses molds with a limited pressure differential; the injection of the resin is controlled by a vacuum inside the mold tool. This process has a slightly lower production cost but allows for a greater percentage of reinforcement, equal to the thickness of laminate, compared to Standard RTM. As with Standard RTM, it is also possible to manufacture products with various thicknesses, inserts and materials using RTM Light.
THE ADVANTAGES OF RTM in brief:
- REDUCED INVESTMENT FOR EQUIPMENT
- REDUCED PRODUCTION TIME
- LOW EMISSIONS OF STYRENE
- GOOD SURFACE FINISH ON BOTH SIDES OF THE PRODUCT
- NO CONTACT WITH THE RESIN
- REPEATABILITY OF THE PROCESS
- PRODUCTION OF SMALL AND MEDIUM LOTS, COMPOSITE PARTS WITH VARIOUS STRUCTURES AND SIZES
- ABSENCE OF POROSITY IN THE LAMINATES
